Summary:
Veronica believes in vampires and is in search of one to turn her father before he passes away. In need of a vampire and inner solace, Veronica visits New Orleans with her childhood best friend, Henry. Along the way, she learns the value of love, freedom, and living to life’s fullest extent with the most unlikely of people.
Qualities:
Prose: The novel is written from an emotional view point of a young woman, giving readers and inside view of how she feels about her rapidly changing life, paranormal beliefs and wishes for the future. The novel is expressive and self explanatory with metaphorical descriptions that cause the reader to step even deeper into an unusual or all to familiar world.
Character Development: Veronica’s character development is fairly slow in the beginning as her belief and want to save her father blind sides her growth. But with the help of her childhood friend and unusual characters, she learns to grow.
World Building: The world building is fairly slow at the beginning of the book but picks up when Veronica and Henry venture to New Orleans. Here, this is where we experience some culture, places, monuments, food, and paranormal lore.
Recommendation:
I highly recommend this book to someone who wants a strangely alluring novel, a unique plot and point of view. This a great novel for someone who is interested in learning about the values of life and a fun experience. New Orleans cultural and paranormal lore is well done and thought provoking. This book includes some slight romance and a lot of growth.
